The nostalgia this week comes in the form of a bank that likes to say ‘YES’.

This week the Central Bank has criticised Irish banks for not lending to businesses and home owners when they need extra capital. This comes despite the claims from the banking institutions that they are in fact dramatically increasing lending to the SME sector. They claim that there is in fact a reduced demand for credit and companies and home owners are simply not asking for money. The business associations have responded by saying that businesses don’t ask anymore because there is a limit to how many rejections a person can take.
